Things you need before doing a show

If you think you'd like to have fun and try singing live, here are some things you'll need:

1. Microphone & Speakers ~ Just be aware, a freestanding mic and desktop speakers might be best, depending on your soundcard. Your audience may not be able to hear music through a headset.we dont have a mixer like singsnap. you will need what you hear or the stereo mix option on your pc ! We can give you helpful links to fix any sound issues.

2. Webcam ~ Make sure it's on and ready (not being used on Singsnap or any other site.) camera is not required...altho we prefer them !

3. Music ~ You will need to play music to sing along to. Here's a site we recommend for music...Singsnap.com

4. Stickam Account. Since the FFM host accounts are used to manage the show, you need to Join Stickam and Sign up for your own free Stickam account: Click here STICKAM then go check your email and verify your account.

5. Now you're ready to sing @ Open Mic! Ask one of our moderators to help you with a personal Soundcheck and Book a Show!

LIVE SHOWS:

Once you have tried open mic we'll be happy to book a show for you.. shows range from 30 mins to 2 hours. We give you our ffm acct info, and you perform live in our box.We do require cams for the live shows but they are not required for open mic.

When performing live you are giving your permission for us to use your pics,and videos.

You agree to not share our personal info.

You agree to not use our personal info for your own use.

If given our personal info, You have the right to use our box for show purposes only.

great post linda. when i sing here on ffm i have to let the music play through my speakers & be recorded through my microphone because i don't have the right kind of soundcard to use a headset. i like to do a soundcheck of my music on singsnap. when i record a song and go to review it, i leave the "enable music" button unchecked and it gives me an idea of what the audience here on ffm is hearing.

Thanks so much Jerrie! Yes, I think that would be pretty accurate. Some of us are so used to using our headsets on Singsnap and pressing the enable music and MMSB button. I was hoping people would help me think of things! hugsss :)

The MMSB button is my enemy! ROTFL I dunno what it is about my voice, but when I use that thing the compression it adds just detracts from whatever clarity I have! LOL

Actually, I do use a mixer that has the option of effects but I never, ever use them. You only ever hear my raw voice.

Linda, dont forget that if you have the music tracks in your computer, it is faster to jump from one song to the other without waiting for a site to load. NOTE: to have the track on your computer is easy. go to singsnap or where ever, then play the track, (dont sing) after track has played thru then remove it from your temp internet files, rename the track as to what it is and place in a new file folder for future use. the track will be in flv format but winamp will play them. You Will Find This Saves Tons Of Time.
